Life's Little Instruction Book..

Life's Little Instruction Book...

Have a firm handshake.

Look people in the eye.

Sing in the shower.

Own a great stereo system.

If in a fight, hit first and hit hard.

Keep secrets.

Never give up on anybody. Miracles happen everyday.

Always accept an outstretched hand.

Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference.

Whistle.

Avoid sarcastic remarks.

Choose your life's mate carefully. From this one decision will come 90 per cent of all your happiness or misery.

Make it a habit to do nice things for people who will never find out.

Lend only those books you never care to see again.

Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all that they have.

When playing games with children, let them win.

Give people a second chance, but not a third.

Be romantic.

Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know.

Loosen up. Relax. Except for rare life-and-death matters, nothing is as important as it first seems.

Don't allow the phone to interrupt important moments. It's there for your convenience, not the caller's.

Be a good loser.

Be a good winner.

Think twice before burdening a friend with a secret.

When someone hugs you, let them be the first to let go.

Be modest. A lot was accomplished before you were born.

Keep it simple.

Beware of the person who has nothing to lose.

Don't burn bridges. You'll be surprised how many times you have to cross the same river.

Live your life so that your epitaph could read, 'No Regrets'.

Be bold and courageous. When you look back on life, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the one's you did.

Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.

Remember no one makes it alone. Have a grateful heart and be quick to acknowledge those who helped you.

Take charge of your attitude. Don't let someone else choose it for
you.

Visit friends and relatives when they are in hospital; you need only stay a few minutes.

Begin each day with some of your favorite music.

Once in a while, take the scenic route.

Answer the phone with enthusiasm and energy in your voice.

Keep a note pad and pencil on your bed-side table. Million-dollar ideas sometimes strike at 3 a.m.

Show respect for everyone who works for a living, regardless of how trivial their job.

Send your loved ones flowers. Think of a reason later.

Make someone's day by paying the toll for the person in the car behind you.

Become someone's hero.

Marry only for love.

Count your blessings.

Compliment the meal when you're a guest in someone's home.

Remember that 80 per cent of the success in any job is based on your ability to deal with people.

Don't expect life to be fair.

Just 3 Words

This is a true story that happened in Japan.

In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan tear open the wall.
Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls.

When tearing down the walls, he found that there is a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside got stuck into one of its feet. He sees this, feels pity and at the same time curious, as when he check the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built. What happened?

The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years! In a dark wall partition for 10 years, without moving, it is not an easy task. Then he remembered, how this lizard survived for 10 years without moving a single step - the feet was nailed! So he stops the work and observes the lizard, what is it eating?
Later, don't know from where appears another lizard, with food in its mouth...
AHHH! He is stunned.
What kind of love is this? For the lizard that was stuck by a nail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years...

I am touched when I heard this story. And stop wondering the relationship between them: family, friends, lovers, brothers, sisters......

As the technology advances, our access to information became faster and faster. But the distance between the human beings, is it getting closer as well?

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING:

Regularly send handwritten notes to your business clients and your other relations to strengthen the bond. Develop a system which reminds you to send something valuable to this network at least once every four months. Send them postcards when you are away on vacation. If you have to buy a few hundred postcards and spend hour writing, don't worry. This is an exceptionally good investment of your time. Another idea is to send a recent article of interest to your contacts with a hand written note saying that you thought this would interest them and that you continue to value their friendship. Relationship building should always be a central focus whether you are a CEO, a student, a salesperson or a parent.

JUST 3 WORDS

There are many things that you can do to strengthen your relationships.
Often the most effective thing you can do involves saying just three words.
When spoken sincerely, these statements often have the power to develop new
friendships, deepen old ones and even bring healing to relationships that
have soured.
The following three-word phrases can be tools to help develop every relationship.

1. Let me help
Good friends see a need and then try to fill it. When they see a hurt they do what they can to heal it. Without being asked, they jump in and help out.

2. I understand you.
People become closer and enjoy each other more when the other person accepts and understands them. Letting your spouse know - in so many little ways - that
you understand them, is one of the most powerful tools for healing your relationship. And this can apply to any relationship.

3. I respect youRespect is another way of showing love. Respect demonstrates that another person is a true equal. If you talk to your children as if they were adults you will strengthen the bonds and become closer friends. This applies to all interpersonal relationships.

4. I miss you. Perhaps more marriages could be saved and strengthened if couples simply and sincerely said to each other "I miss you." This powerful affirmation tells partners they are wanted, needed, desired and loved. Consider how important you would feel, if you received an unexpected phone call from
your spouse in the middle of your workday, just to say "I miss you."

5. Maybe you're right.
This phrase is very effective in diffusing an argument. The implication
when you say "maybe you're right" is the humility of admitting, "maybe I'm
wrong". Let's face it. When you have an argument with someone, all you
normally do is solidify the other person's point of view. They, or you,
will not likely change their position and you run the risk of seriously
damaging the relationship between you. Saying "maybe you're right" can
open the door to explore the subject more. You may then have the
opportunity to express your view in a way that is understandable to the
other person.

6. Please forgive meMany broken relationships could be restored and healed if people would admit their mistakes and ask for forgiveness. All of us are vulnerable to faults, foibles and failures. A man should never be ashamed to own up that he has been in the wrong, which is saying, in other words, that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.

7. I thank you.Gratitude is an exquisite form of courtesy. People who enjoy the companionship of good, close friends are those who don't take daily
courtesies for granted. They are quick to thank their friends for their many expressions of kindness. On the other hand, people whose circle of friends is severely constricted often do not have the attitude of gratitude.

8. Count on meA friend is one who walks in when others walk out. Loyalty is an essential ingredient for true friendship. It is the emotional glue that bonds people. Those that are rich in their relationships tend to be steady and
true friends. When troubles come, a good friend is there indicating "you
can count on me."

9. I'll be thereIf you have ever had to call a friend in the middle of the night, to take a sick child to hospital, or when your car has broken down some miles from home, you will know how good it feels to hear the phrase "I'll be there." Being there for another person is the greatest gift we can give. When
we are truly present for other people, important things happen to them and
us. We are renewed in love and friendship. We are restored emotionally
and spiritually. Being there is at the very core of civility.

10. Go for itWe are all unique individuals. Don't try to get your friends to conform to your ideals. Support them in pursuing their interests, no matter how far out they seem to you. God has given everyone dreams, dreams that are
unique to that person only. Support and encourage your friends to follow their dreams. Tell them to "go for it."

B o n u s :
11. I love youPerhaps the most important three words that you can say. Telling someone that you truly love them satisfies a person's deepest emotional needs. The need to belong, to feel appreciated and to be wanted. Your spouse, your children, your friends and you, all need to hear those three little words: "I love you." Love is a choice. You can love even when the feeling is gone.

DONKEY IN THE WELL

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to think what to do. At last he thought that the animal was old enough and so it wasn't worth retrieving the donkey. Since there was no water in that well, he felt, the well needed to be covered anyway. So he invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed shovels and spades and began to shovel dirt and mud into the well. At first, the donkey did not know what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quietened down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and walked off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on us, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.

CHOOSE YOUR AIRLINE CAREFULLY!

LUFTHANZA AIRLINES
Passengers on a Lufthanza flight heard this announcement from the captain :
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am sorry to inform you that we have lost power to all of our engines and will shortly crash into the ocean".

The passengers were obviously very worried about this situation but were somewhat comforted by the captain's next announcement.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we at Lufthanza have prepared for such an emergency and we would now like you to rearrange your seating so that all the non-swimmers are on the left side of the plane and all the swimmers are on the right side of the plane.

After this announcement all the passengers rearranged their seating to comply with the captain's request.

Two minutes later the captain made a belly landing in the ocean. The captain once again made an announcement:
"Ladies and Gentlemen we have crashed into the ocean. All of the swimmers on the right side of the plane, open your emergency exits and quickly swim away from the
plane.
For all of the non-swimmers on the left side of plane, you are being carefully ferried out on belly, to the shore. Be comfortable in your seats, in the shell of the
plane. Thank You For Flying Lufthanza."

DELKA AIRLINES.
At the airport for a trip, I settled down to wait for the boarding announcement at Gate 35. Then I heard the voice on the public address system saying, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Delka Flight 570 will board from Gate 41."

So my family picked up our luggage and carried it over to Gate 41. Not ten minutes later the public address voice told us that Flight 570 would in fact be boarding from Gate 35. So again we gathered our carry-on luggage and returned to the original gate.

Just as we were settling down, the public address voice spoke "Thank You for participating in Delka's physical fitness program."

BHARAT AIRLINES
"This is Captain Bharat speaking. On behalf of my crew I'd like to welcome you aboard Bharat Airways flight 420 from New York to Mumbai.

We are currently flying at a height of 35,000 feet midway across the Atlantic."

"If you look out of the windows on the starboard side of the aircraft, you will observe that both the starboard engines are on fire.

"If you look out of the windows on the port side, you will observe that the port wing has fallen off."

"If you look down towards the Atlantic ocean, you will see a little yellow life raft with three people in it waving at you. That's me your captain, the co-pilot, and one of the air stewardesses.
This is a recorded message."

Think positive and act.

The story goes that some time ago a man punished his 5-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of expensive gold wrapping paper.Money was tight and he became even more upset when the child pasted the gold paper so as to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.

Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift box to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy." The father was embarrassed by his earlier over reaction, but his anger flared again when he found the box was empty. He spoke to
her in a harsh manner, "Don't you know, young lady, when you give someone a present there's supposed to be something inside the package?"

The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said,"Oh, Daddy, it's not empty. I blew kisses into it until it was full." The father was crushed. He fell on his knees and put his arms around his little girl, and he begged her to forgive him for his unnecessary anger.

An accident took the life of the child only a short time later and it is told that the father kept that gold box by his bed for all the years of his life. And whenever he was discouraged or faced difficult problems he would open the box and take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of his child who had put it there.

In a very real sense, each of us as human beings have been given a golden box filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, family, friends and God. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

Family and friends are gifts from God who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly. Think positive and act.

Thoughts

Thoughts

What you think, feel and believe, you ultimately become. Control your thoughts and master your destiny. Thoughts translate into actions. The whole world rotates around the power of thoughts.

Before you change your thinking, you have to change what goes into your mind. To change your weight and health you change your diet. Your input determines your output. What goes in, that only comes out. What we sow, so shall we reap. We must sow before we reap. Likewise, we must fill our mind with positive, healthy and inspirational thoughts.

If you cut the apple you can see the seeds in its core. These seeds are the future apples. But you cannot count the future apples that are in these apple seeds. When we sow a seed we do not reap a single fruit- our harvest is manifold. If we sow a positive seed our harvest will be manifold in the positive, and if we sow a negative one, the harvest shall be manifold in the negative. So also are the inspirational thoughts, which are the seeds to reap a greater acts and greater destiny.

Before seeding the positive thoughts into your mind please follow the advice of the Zen Master in the following story.

Ø
A professor came to a Zen master to learn about Zen. The master served him tea. He poured tea into the professor’s cup and even when the cup was full he kept on pouring. The puzzled professor exclaimed, “Stop! Stop! No more can go into the cup.” The master said: “The cup cannot take any more unless I empty it first. Like the cup you are full of your own ideas. How can I teach you Zen unless you first empty your mind?”

So, please, first empty your mind of the things that will kill your dreams and aspirations- fears, doubts and all the negative/ pessimistic thoughts to replace them with the positive thoughts.

Ø
There is a story of two men who got drunk on an island. About midnight, they staggered down to their little boat, took up the oars and started to row furiously. In an hour they should have reached the mainland, but daybreak saw them along side the island, still rowing. They had forgotten to untie the rope which held the boat to the island.

Many of us are like those two men. We work and work but we get nowhere. We are not drunk. We are indifferent. We row furiously to go ahead, but forget to cut the rope that binds us to our faults, short comings, fears, and negative thoughts etc. If you keep doing what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten. CUT THE ROPES. Then, sow into your mind the positive, uplifting, healthy, encouraging & inspirational thoughts and initiate action. Action leads to good habits. Good habits are the key to all success. Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure. Form good habits and become their slave. This will change your destiny to reap an abundant harvest of success, for-

“Thoughts lead on to purposes;
Purposes go forth in action;
Action form habits;
Habits decide character; and
Character fixes our destiny”

MAY BE

MAY BE

Maybe. . we were supposed to meet the
wrong people before meeting the right
one so that, when we finally meet the
right person, we will know how to be
grateful for that gift.

Maybe . . . it is true that we don't
know what we have until we lose it,
but it is also true that we don't know
what we have been missing until it
arrives.

Maybe . . . the brightest future will
always be based on a forgotten past;
after all, you can't go on
successfully in life until you let go
of your past mistakes, failures and
heartaches.

Maybe . . you should hope for enough
happiness to make you sweet, enough
trials to make you strong, enough
sorrow to keep you human, and enough
hope to make you happy.

Maybe . . . the happiest of people
don't necessarily have the best of
everything; they just make the most of
everything that comes along their way.

Maybe .. . . the best kind of friend is
the kind you can sit on a porch and
swing with, never say a word, and then
walk away feeling like it was the best
conversation you've ever had.

Maybe . . . happiness waits for all
those who cry, all those who hurt, all
those who have searched, and all those
who have tried, for only they can
appreciate the importance of all the
people who have touched their lives.

May be . . you should do something nice
for someone every single day, even if
it is simply to leave them alone.

Maybe . . . there are moments in life
when you miss someone -- a parent, a
spouse, a friend, a child -- so much
that you just want to pick them from
your dreams and hug them for real, so
that once they are around you
appreciate them more.

Maybe giving someone all your love
is never an assurance that they will
love you back. Don't expect love in
return; just wait for it to grow in
their heart; but, if it doesn't, be
content that it grew in yours.

Maybe .. . . you should dream what you
want to dream; go where you want to
go, be what you want to be, because
you have only one life and one chance
to do all the things you dream of, and
want to do.

A Winner Never Quits !!

A Winner Never Quits !!

(an e-mail forward)

Balance in life

For attaining stability in life, the following five areas in our life, require balancing-

1] Faith,

2] Family,

3] Fitness,

4] Friends, and

5] Finances.

Faith: Faith forms the core and the other four ‘Fs’ are balanced by it. If the core, ‘faith’ is weak or missing, the other four ‘Fs’- Family, Fitness, Friends and Finances, collapse under even the slightest pressure. Connect yourself to that Universal Source called God, through prayer and meditation to draw power to strengthen your inner self.

Family: Be close to your family. You owe your parents your love, respect and kindness; your children your quality time etc. Don’t take your family for granted and ignore them. A strong family is a key ingredient to a balanced life. Without love and affection, life will be dreary.

Fitness: When you have got your health, you have got everything. Keep your body fit. No health, no energy. No energy, no accomplishments/ no enjoyments

Friends: Friends balance your life and keep you on an even keel. You can not choose your relatives, but you can choose your friends. It is a matter of choice, not chance.

Finances: Money itself has no value, but what money can buy has value to us. Money gives us freedom- freedom from hunger, tedious chores, feeling sick, sending children to lousy schools, freedom to make your own choices, to do what you want to do.
